Over time, jewellery loses its lustre, especially the ones you wear every day. This is due to sulfidation. In order to preserve them as much as possible it is advised that the rings should not come into contact with water, cleaning products or cosmetics. Please note : most of my rings have a rhodium layer, which makes them shiny and resistant to blackening.
Yes, to remove this black layer you will need to soak your ring in a mixture of white vinegar and bakingsoda. You could also use lemon or toothpaste. Wipe the ring with a soft cloth when you are done. Important : If your ring is rhodium plated, is it advised to only use soapy water, as other products could damage the rhodium layer.
